Needham Market Women’s first team have secured promotion into the Eastern Region Premiership after a 1-2 win against Newmarket Town Ladies on Sunday.

With the club's female provision working closely with Needham Market Academy, application remains open for the new 22/23 academy year.

All female students within Needham Market Academy have the opportunity to represent the top of the table team to enhance their football development alongside their academy training with Kevin Horlock.

Freya Louis, Girls’ & Women’s Development Manager said: “It’s an incredible achievement for all involved and I’m so proud that they’re being rewarded for their hard work. The team have achieved so much in such a short space of time and to become ERWFL Divison 1 North Champions is the icing on the cake.”

“Warren Lewis-Claxton [Women’s Head Coach] has done a phenomenal job at embedding the ethos of the female provision and has worked extremely hard both on and off the pitch to ensure the girls receive the best possible coaching and environment to further their development.”

“It’s always been our goal to step up the football pyramid, our aim is to cultivate the perfect environment for our female students to reach their full potential and with the right pathway in place, we will become a hub for female football in Suffolk for youth and open age.”

Warren Lewis-Claxton praised he’s group of players after the historic win and said: “It’s a great moment, not only for me, the players but also the club as a whole. We’ve come a long way in a very short space of time and a lot of hard work has gone in to get where we are today. We have a very special group of players with us and I’m very proud of this moment. A thanks goes out to everyone involved.“
