Needham Market FC 3G Post Construction Commencement Update

Last week was the start of the development for the new state-of-the-art third generation (3G) artificial grass pitch (AGP) at Needham Market Football Club. This is a historic time for the club and will take Needham Market FC to a new era. The new development will have a huge benefit to the club, Needham Market Academy and the surrounding areas within Mid Suffolk.

Needham Market FC were awarded a grant of £473,792 by the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund which has made the new pitch possible. The overall cost of the AGP is £740,300 and the grant from the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund equates to 64% of the overall contribution. Needham Market FC have been further assisted by Mid Suffolk District Council, Stowupland Falcons FC and Needham Market Phoenix FC who provided a combined contribution of £27,000, which has left the remaining £208,853 to be self-funded by Needham Market FC. Needham Market FC also thank Caroline Smith who provided consultancy on the project, the Football Foundation and Suffolk FA for their assistance throughout the two-year application process.

The development will have a huge benefit to the club and the partner clubs and organisations to the project. The partner clubs include Stowupland Falcons FC and Needham Market Phoenix FC and organisations consist of Suffolk FA, Ipswich Town FC and Mid Suffolk District Council. Needham Market FC would like to thank the partner clubs and organisations for their assistance with the application and contribution to the project costs. SIS Pitches are the contractors of the development and have vast experience nationally of building AGP pitches.

The new facility will allow increased teams and provision at Needham Market FC. Over the next two seasons the club look to increase the youth provision and introduce ladies football into the club. Increased projects will take place on the new AGP and key discussions continue with Suffolk FA, Ipswich Town FC and Suffolk County Schools’ FA, to maximise their provision on the site which is ideally located in Mid Suffolk.

Alongside the AGP development, Needham Market FC are building a community café which will be an extension to the current club house. The club are also developing a new building which will consist of changing rooms and a second floor which will have a multi-function room for conferences and sports provision. Needham Market FC are exploring further funding opportunities to help cover the predicted £300,000 cost of these new developments which will bring the wider community to Bloomfields and allow for inclusive activities to take place on site.
